Location: Puerto Princesa, Palawan, The Philippines
Puerto Princesa is the main port (both by air and sea) to Palawan, Travel and Leisure's #1 Island Destination of 2014. There isn't much to see in the town, itself, but it's the easiest way to get to El Nido and Coron, which are at the northmost tip of the island.
I ended up in Puerto Princesa, like most travelers, as a rest break between my flight to the island and the 6-7 hour van ride up to El Nido. I met up with two friends I'd made in Vietnam, and we spent my first evening in town just checking it out. These are some of the things we found.
